10 Things to Walk Away From as Christians: Upholding Your Faith in Everyday Life

10 Things to Walk Away From as Christians: Upholding Your Faith in Everyday Life

At Blanc Sunday Apparel, we’re not just about faith-driven fashion—we’re about living out our faith in every aspect of life. As Christians, part of our journey involves knowing when to walk away from things that lead us astray and weaken our connection with God. Every day presents new challenges, and the enemy will often use temptations to divert us from our true path. While none of us are perfect, striving to turn away from harmful influences is essential to growing closer to Christ.

Here are 10 things we, as Christians, should walk away from, supported by scripture to guide and strengthen us along the way:

    1. Sinful Temptations

The enemy thrives on enticing us with temptations, especially those that go against God's will. Resist, and trust that God provides a way out.
"Flee from sexual immorality." — 1 Corinthians 6:18
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." — James 4:7

    2. Evil Influences

Surrounding yourself with the wrong people can pull you away from the Lord's path. Be mindful of who and what you allow into your life.
"Do not be deceived: 'Bad company ruins good morals.'" — 1 Corinthians 15:33
"Therefore, 'Come out from them and be separate,' says the Lord." — 2 Corinthians 6:17

    3. False Teachings

We are constantly bombarded with opinions, but it's crucial to test them against the Word of God.
"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God." — 1 John 4:1
"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed." — 2 Timothy 3:14

    4. Unforgiveness and Resentment

Carrying unforgiveness only weighs us down. Forgiving others not only frees them but also frees us.
"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." — Ephesians 4:32
"For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you." — Matthew 6:14

    5. Anger and Hatred

Holding onto anger and hate can lead us away from Christ’s love. Walking in love means letting go of bitterness.
"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice." — Ephesians 4:31
"Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." — Matthew 5:44

    6. Unhealthy Relationships

Not all relationships are meant to last. If a relationship consistently pulls you away from your walk with God, it’s time to step back.
"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers." — 2 Corinthians 6:14
"Make no friendship with a man given to anger." — Proverbs 22:24

    7. Materialism and Greed

In a world obsessed with wealth and possessions, God calls us to store treasures in heaven, not on Earth.
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth." — Matthew 6:19
"Those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and ruin." — 1 Timothy 6:9

    8. Dishonesty and Deception

Honesty is at the core of our Christian values. Walk away from lies and embrace truth in every situation.
"Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord." — Proverbs 12:22
"Speak the truth with your neighbor, for we are members of one another." — Ephesians 4:25

    9. Gossip and Slander

Words hold immense power. Choose to speak life, and walk away from gossip that tears others down.
"Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy keeps a thing covered." — Proverbs 11:13
"Let no corrupt talk come out of your mouths, but only what is good for building up." — Ephesians 4:29

    10. Fear and Doubt

Fear and doubt are tools the enemy uses to distance us from God. Trust in God's plan and walk confidently in His promises.
"For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." — 2 Timothy 1:7
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." — Proverbs 3:5

    Reflect and Grow

Take some time this week to reflect on which of these areas you find most challenging. Journal your thoughts, pray over these struggles, and turn to scripture for guidance. Ask yourself, Are my actions bringing me closer to God? Write down the verse that resonates most with your journey and hold it close.

At Blanc Sunday Apparel, our mission extends beyond offering faith-inspired clothing—we aim to inspire a life rooted in Christ. Let's support one another in living out these biblical truths.
